Actodemil is a breakthrough approach for the safe destruction of a variety of explosive chemicals. U.S. environmental regulations mandate the phasing out of open burning and open detonation (OB/OD). The United Nations prohibits ocean dumping of munitions. Stockpiled munitions are obsolete because they either are unusable or unstable. And, all major countries have large obsolete stockpiles and are seeking safe and sustainable approaches for disposition.
Actodemil technology has been successfully deployed for the U.S. Army at several locations including the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant in McAlester, Oklahoma. The recycling of explosive components from munitions into fertilizer has also been approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Other U.S. regulations have also approved these Actodemil coal derived humic substances for use as fertilizers for a variety of farm and other applications.
Actodemil has international operations as well. In the Middle East region, for example, Actodemil installed an Actodemil munitions recycling facility for the Egyptian Army in conjunction with the U.S. Corps of Engineers. Anywhere there are large concentrations or depots with significant amounts of expired munitions, this becomes an opportunity for an environmentally sustainable process to produce fertilizer using our Actodemil process.
